Windsor chair
2015
We had to research into old way of craftsmanship and to create a Windsor chair using technologies and tools of that time. For that we had to create tools such as shaving horse and Trade lathe. The uniqueness of this task was that doing all these objects we could not use any electric tools.

This project was given to us to teach how to work with natural materials and to understand basics of wooden craftsmanship. During this project we had some issues which we managed to solve.
My opinion is that this project was extremely usefull and everyone who want to study how to work with wood at first should try to make something without electrical tool.
Making Process
Firstly, we researched into old tools and designed our own construction of shave horse. We worked in teams. That was really unusual to work without electrical tools. During the project we used just chisels, axe, knives, sandpaper and some other basic tools. For all construction and joint we drew sketches to understand how it's gonna work.

When we already had all the craftsmanship tools done we finally could start working on our chair. Working process were good experience to understand how actually all the tool worked and how wood act in different situations.

We have done one chair but then we have got the idea that we can make even better, so we decided to make another one.
